Our History
"I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples." - Psalm 77:11–14.

In June of 1995 God birthed out a small group of believers who had one commitment in mind. That was to preach the gospel to our world and disciple one another in our faith. Eighty-nine of us joined that first night as we met in the back yard of one of our families.
We moved quickly to establish our church fellowship, confirm our pastor and select our deacons. After this meeting, our Lord directed us to meet in the Alamance Civitan Club facility. It was a small building and didn’t have all of today’s amenities but we improvised and still enjoyed the amazing worship of our God. We grew and new believers were added to our number. |
Next, as we outgrew the Civitan building, the Lord opened the door for us to use the facility of one of our sister churches, Wicker Street Baptist Church. Pastor Tommy Love and the amazing congregation there were so helpful and gracious to us. This was an amazing time as they met in their facility from 9:00-12:30 each Sunday morning and we then came in and began our worship at 1:00. We enjoyed our time of preaching and teaching until 4:00 in the afternoon when we departed and they returned for their Sunday evening worship. What a great time we had as we were blessed by our dear brothers and sisters at Wicker Street during these early years.
After a few months the Lord miraculously opened the door for us to rent another church’s facility in a prime location of our town. After prayer and discussion we acknowledged the Lord’s clear direction. We rented their facility (St. John’s New Mission UCC) and enjoyed some amazing work of our Lord. Here we saw many saved and we were privileged to disciple them in the faith and we grew quite beautifully. As we grew we tried to buy their facility after many months but they were not interested so we began our search for where the Lord wanted us to settle.
As we prayed and sought the Lord together as to where He wanted this church plant to land, He made the land at our current location available to us through some of our founding members, Fred and Nelda Phillippe. We are forever indebted to them and their family for selling us their “homeplace.” At the time of our purchase, it was considered a much more remote area than today, but soon after our purchase and construction was begun we saw why God strategically placed us here. It became and still it a growing and vibrant community.
While we were planning and building our current facility the church family met at the Gibsonville Elementary School facility. This in itself was quite an experience. Moving chairs, tables and putting things up and tearing them down was our weekly practice but one thing was our constant, the love of Christ was shown and the gospel was taught and preached. Here we continued to see growth and additions and the love of Christ was so prevalent as God’s people reached out to family, friends and neighbors.
In the year 2000 we were graciously able to move into our current facility and we have enjoyed the past 2 decades plus as we preached the gospel, discipled believers and sought to bring glory to Christ in all we do.
As in every church we have seen many of our founding members go to their eternal home, but the work of our Lord has continued. New believers and families have taken their place and the work of the Lord remained. Today we are honored to partner with 15 missionaries locally and globally, who are proclaiming the Good News around our world.
We have seen the Lord send many from our little fellowship of believers to ministries throughout our community and world. We have seen Him established a sister church in Welkom, South Africa (Hope Haven Bible Church) and continue our support for this work of the Lord.
Yes, there is much history behind us but the greatest is still before us… and all we desire is for us to stand before Christ’s throne and hear Him say to all of us… “well done, good and faithful servant!” There is no greater joy!
