Life Groups
"...go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you...."
- Matthew 28:19-20, NIV
Welcome to our Life Group Ministry! At CBF, we take the command to make disciples seriously. At its core, this foundational command simply means that we are called to help one another become followers of Jesus. How do we do this? Life Groups help to provide a trellis for the vine of discipleship to grow up in a healthy way. Life Groups provide a helpful context for us to be able to build meaningful relationships, study and apply Scripture, and pray with one another. It is no secret that life is hard, but we are so thankful that God gives us caring relationships that help us grow in our faith and become better followers of Jesus!
What are Life Groups?
Life Groups are where 8-12 people gather each week in homes across our community to study the Bible with one another, pray with and for one another, and build life transforming relationships with one another.
Where and when do Life Groups meet?
Life Groups meet in homes across our community. The day and time a group meets will depend on the group itself. We have various groups throughout the week that meet at various times to accommodate as many schedules as possible.
Will there be childcare?
Childcare will be determined by the individual groups. Each group has the freedom to determine whether families with children will each hire a babysitter as individual families, hire a babysitter as a group, or have volunteers among the group members to watch the children.
There are groups who will meet during our AWANA ministry on Sunday nights so that parents may drop their children off while they are at group and will be ready for pick-up afterwards.

Are your Life Groups Open or Closed groups?
Life Groups will be primarily closed. This means that after Life Groups begin, new members will be unable to join. Because a groups ministry is for the purpose of building authentic and transparent relationships, it can be disruptive to have new people join after a group has already started. Therefore, this also means that people should not jump from one group to another.
However, we also want to acknowledge that closed does not mean locked! There may be times when a group member wants to invite a neighbor or perhaps a new convert may need to come into the group. If these gospel circumstances arise, then permission may be gained from the rest of the group to allow this person to join.
One exception to this rule is our Wednesday night group at the church. There will be an open group that will meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 for anyone who wants to come.

Will my Life Group be permanent or will there be opportunities to try a different group?
There will be breaks throughout the year that will provide a time to "re-group." This will provide natural "on-ramps" and "off-ramps" for new people to join groups or if people want to try to find a better group fit for their family.
